The Most Wonderful Time of the Year!!

Hello Y’all!! I trust your week has been off to a cool start?! We are finally in the ember months and I can tell you for a fact that it’s the most wonderful time of the year!! A big shout out to all the Starr readers all over the world who have a birthday during this time. I wish you the very best and many more amazing years ahead! Not only do I (yours truly) celebrate my birthday during this season (and I’m not being specific as to the exact month …he he) but friends and family who do as well.💑

Everything changes – the weather, the outdoors, my wardrobe – and for all the right reasons too. 😉 From this point on, the race into the new year becomes a reality. We have the craziness of Halloween then Thanksgiving, Christmas and then comes the New Year in quick succession. My goal is to be mindful and present because if I’m not careful, its all going to zip by very fast. For all my friends (myself included) who love to decorate, Fall festival was just an intro into the frenzy of the season; then comes the uphill battle to top last years efforts which is so much fun! In all honesty, the finished product is my preference. 😎

The Up Side!!!

  • You can finally (like me) blast Christmas carols as loud as you want.
  • All diets are off! – All those treats are not going to eat themselves. 😋 Besides, when you’ve been diligent at keeping up your gym routine for 10 months out of the year, you deserve some slack time.
  • Spending time with close family and friends.
  • Decorations! Decorations! Decorations! – The family that decorates together, celebrates together! 👪
  • We get to layer up. I’ve been waiting for this cool down for a long time.
  • Parties and Festivities galore!
  • Hallmark has a marathon of all those sappy Christmas specials which are awesome!

The year 2017 has indeed been an eventful one. Its had it’s highs and lows and for some, this time can be a really difficult period to live through. Maybe you didn’t do as well as you hoped and things didn’t turn out like you planned. The good news is: The year isn’t over yet! So put aside any disappointments and just be plain old happy!! You are alive. You can  still dream! Dig your heels in and make up your mind to plan ahead and do better next year!

The Beauty of Serenity.

Hello Y’all! We are finally in the last quarter of 2017, coupled with the rush to end the year and tie up all loose ends. The beauty of waking up on a Saturday morning to the boiling heat is one of the things I absolutely cherish about living in Texas. :/ You just can’t ever tell what the weather is going to be. Running out the door to a meeting, getting groceries, meeting up with friends or catching up with family and finally getting time for me makes my weekend worthwhile. Sometimes, it could be a blur trying to cross off every item on my lists – which are awesome! And yes, I would be of no use to myself or anyone without a ‘TO DO’ list.

Looking back on a previous post titled ‘Green Thumb or Not’, I wrote about the dilemma of not being able to grow any plants and my resolve to grow ‘something’ besides a cactus plant past a 6 month marker. I chose to try my hands at growing tomatoes and strawberries for the first time. The good news is that my plants are not only growing, but they’re flourishing. Every single plant is still alive…thank God!  This is a big deal for someone without ANY urban gardening skills what so ever. Now I’m thinking that the next thing might be to get a dog – that can walk itself… ha ha! Maybe in the not too distant future.

What Does Serenity Mean – To You?

According to the dictionary, to be serene means to be calm, peaceful, tranquil or unruffled.

I find that by making a conscious effort every now and again to take a break and get away from all the noise, endless activities/events, the never ending lists of things I need to do, schedule or cancel leave me room to be calm, quiet, to breathe and reflect. Life ain’t no dress rehearsal and I need to hit the ground in tip top shape to tackle all the new and exciting things that happen on a daily basis – this can only be achieved ‘long term’ from a balanced lifestyle.

The goal is to be at peace within yourself first. When life throws obstacles your way (and it will), your approach will always come from a clear, calm and centered perspective. I love drawing parallels to real life when watching movies; but have you noticed that the main actor or good guy finds his purpose only when he can find serenity – calm, peace and quiet – within him/herself. This applies to real life as well. Feel free to share what things you do to maintain a calm and peaceful center in your everyday life.

The Big Reveal!! Coming Soon

Hello Y’all! It finally feels like Fall right now…54 °F at last!! The question I ask right now is whether it will stay this way because in Texas, you just can’t ever tell 😀 😀 Anyways I hope your week has kicked off to an amazing start and you ‘kinda’ have your ducks together at least (rows and lines are for the ‘perfect in heart’ LOL). Its been a minute since my last post and I have to admit; its been a lot of long hours juggling work and family but so worth it.

There’s just something about the last quarter of the year that I absolutely love. The holidays start rolling by one after the other. All the craziness starts to wind down but for some, that’s when things actually start to get really busy.

The Big Reveal!!

I have been working on a project that’s very dear to my heart for a while now. Its a passion that I’ve had all my life; something I have always wanted to do for many years now and finally having the courage and discipline to embark on. My goal is to share this with y’all in the coming months and I – just – cannot – wait! And yes, I am literally doing my happy dance as I type! 😀 😀
